A new book chronicling the history of Eddie and the Hot Rods is to be published next month.
"Do Anything You Wanna Do" (what else!) written by Steve Crancher, will be launched on May 3rd at Waterstones book shop (Royals branch) in Southend on Sea. Original members, Barrie Masters (who still fronts the band), guitarist Dave Higgs and drummer Steve Nichol will all be there to sign copies of the book between 12pm and 1pm.

If you miss them at Waterstones, you can always grab a copy that evening when the band play The Riga Music Bar in Westcliff-On-Sea. It is also available from Amazon.

The Swedish tour in March is now in place and we are very much looking forward to the first dates there for many years.

We have also added some photos by Dr Feelgood webmistress Gabi Schwanke, taken at the Skegness Rock and Blues Festival in January (which was 'kin excellent fun - thanks to all).

A very Happy New Year to you all...and thank you to everyone at the Wild at Heart club in Berlin for making it pretty damn good so far...

If you have got a eye/ear for such things, we hear that there is quite a sale of Eddie & the Hot Rods vinyl and memorabilia happening on ebay at the moment - ebay seller ID is barracuda_uk. We do know the seller and both he and his stuff are genuine! Hopefully, if you CLICK HERE, it will take you right to the good stuff...

One other thing - YES, we are playing at the Rock and Blues Festival in Skegness this year on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th (special set). There has been some confusion in the past and we seem to have fallen off the advertising for this year as well...

BBC Radio 2 - Thirty Years of Punk.
Part one was aired on Saturday 2nd December and an edited clip of Barrie and John Lydon, giving their account of the notorious Rods v Sex Pistols 'bust up', can be heard HERE.
The full program can be heard on the BBC listen again website.

20th November 2006

The band were recently asked if they would share their many years of experience in the business, with the next generation of would be rocknrollers. They were invited into the Longcroft School and Performing Arts College in Beverly, to stage a music workshop with a group of pupils interested in making music. The two hour session was followed up with an afternoon performance by a 'supergroup' involving the pupils and Rods and then by another show that evening, to help raise money for the BBC Children in Need event.
The workshop proved to be one of the most enjoyable 'gigs' of the year and the band would like to thank the pupils and staff at Longcroft for making it so.
The Hull Evening Post website has a written article and a video report (launch the Video Console and look for the “Pupils get tips from HotRods”).

15th Nov 2006

Cherry Red Records have a new on-line shop for classic Hot Rods MP3's including the albums "Do Anything You Wanna Do" and "Gasoline Days". Check it out HERE.

14th Nov 2006

Barrie has just finished recording his contribution to a BBC Radio 2 celebration of the rock/punk scene in 1976. He was interviewed along with Pete Shelley and John Lydon last week, to be included in the first episode of the two part programme due for transmission on December 2nd.

Some new photographs of the Rods on their travels are now on the Downloads and Photos page of this site. They were taken by our (almost) resident photographer, Tony Nicholls, during recent gigs at the Le Mans 24hr race and the 100 Club.

It is also worth mentioning that due to an embarrassing oversight, Tony was not credited with his work on the latest Hot Rods album, "Been There, Done That...". He took not only the cover shot, but every other photo on the sleeve too, so, quite an oversight really...
You can see more of his excellent work by clicking HERE and visiting his web site. How's that Tony..?

28th Sept 2006

Radio appearances just in...

Barrie will be having a chat with Julia Hankin of BBC Radio Newcastle, on Friday 29th September, just after 3.p.m.
The band will be playing a live acoustic session on Robert Elms BBC Radio London show, on Friday 13th October between 2pm and 3pm.
For those not in the broadcast area, click on the links and listen on line, or on Digital radio and TV.

11th Sept 2006

A bit of a mixed up month...The band should have been in Japan at present but unfortunately, we have been let down badly by the promoter (Emajan - beware UK bands!!). We can only apologise to our friends in Japan who we have had to disappoint, but hopefully we can arrange some dates with a reputable firm early next year.
The knock on effect means that we are also forced to postpone our USA tour, which followed almost immediately!
This is obviously a real blow to our plans for the latter part of 2006 and has left a big hole in our diary, so if you were looking to come along to any of the gigs - sorry, it's really not our fault - but, if you were thinking of booking the band for that period but thought we were unavailable, please get in touch : bookings@eddieandthehotrods.com . We may be able to sort something out.
Anyway - heads up news... The new album Been There, Done That... is now available, as well as the DVD, Live 2005 and thanks to Emajan, we also have a limited number of the live CD, Right for the Night, on sale at gigs and the merchandise section of this site. This was originally intended as a Japan only release on Voiceprint (Japan) but for obvious reasons, it has now (perhaps) become a collectors item!
Next date for the diary is now Sat 23rd September - Durham Punk Festival (01913830745).

30th July 2006

***NEW ALBUM RELEASE DATE***

Been There, Done That..., the new album, is set for release on 4th SEPTEMBER. Along with the DVD Live 2005 it will be available from Voiceprint, the merchandise section on this website as well as all major outlets (it may be neccessary to place an order at some stores).

1st June 2006

The Live 2005 DVD is now available from the Voiceprint shop and will soon be followed by the new studio album, Been There, Done That..., which is in the final stages of production. In addition (should you live in Japan), a limited number of live compilation CD's, Right for the Night, are about to made available. This release - on the Voiceprint Japan label - will contain 14 live tracks, both classic and new, from performances in 2005. Available in all good (Japanese) record shops (and probably ebay, we suspect)...

9th April 2006

The release date for the Live 2005 DVD has now been set for May 29th. It will be available from Voiceprint, the merchandise section on this website and all good record shops blah blah. Barring any unexpected hold-ups, the new album, Been There, Done That... will be released shortly afterwards.

27th March 2006

The band have just returned from Foel Studios in Wales, with a 14 track album in the can. It features 12 brand new songs, including "Why Should I Care" and "Really Happy Now", which some of you may already know from the live show. Also included is a totally balls out version of Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild". A release date will be announced soon.

15th March 2006

MY SPACE - Eddie and the Hot Rods have now been added to the MySpace myspace.com circus. Check it out HERE.

14th Feburary 2006

The band are due to start recording their brand new album, provisionally entitled 'Been There', in March. Two weeks in a studio on a Welsh hillside, should focus the mind on the twelve new songs (so far) that will make up the second, all new album in as many years. Hopefully, this should be available by the end of May.

The live DVD recorded at the Mean Fiddler has been slightly delayed but should be released soon, so please watch this space for details.

Some new photographs taken by Tony Nicholls at Sheffield's Boardwalk, have now been added.
